Designing a multifaceted Telehealth intervention for a rural population using a model for developing complex interventions in nursing Essay
The intervention is a telehealth program based on the latest evidence, experts review and Medicaid claims data. The purpose of the telehealth intervention is to remotely monitor patients with chronic conditions, perform nursing assessments remotely and coordinate care through telehealth. Through the intervention, nurses can assess patients through phone calls, provide patient education and take the vitals (Davis et al., 2020).
The findings by Davis et al (2020) are supported by previous studies. According to Kichloo et al (2020), telehealth involves the use of telecommunications and information technology to facilitate access to health assessment, consultation, diagnosis, interventions, and patient monitoring remotely. Findings by Kichloo et al (2020) indicated that telehealth facilitates care provision remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic when physical distances and minimal movement are required to curb the spread of the virus. A study conducted by Erte et al (2016) had liver transplant recipients monitored remotely for 90 days after the transplant surgery. The vital signs, blood glucose levels, and weight parameters were monitored daily using smart tablets; the readmission rates for this patient population significantly reduced compared to historical controls (Erte et al., 2016).
Telehealth is convenient, reduces healthcare costs, and improves access to healthcare, especially for people located in rural areas (Davis et al., 2020). Therefore, the intervention will reduce healthcare costs and improve access to care for the population. Additionally, the remote monitoring of the patients will improve the health outcomes and prevent complications due to prompt identification of any complications and adherence to retreatment.
For nursing implications, telehealth will ease the impact of the nursing shortage since telehealth ensures easier access of patients to healthcare providers. Therefore, this will improve care efficiency because nurses will concentrate more on patient care, quality of care, and patient satisfaction, without the traditional on-site appointments.

This week we learned about the Eye and Ear examinations and the multiple screening tests utilized during these examinations to ensure the patient’s vision and hearing are adequate. Vision and hearing are two of the major senses we utilize to learn and individuals who have hearing or vision impairments overcome these disadvantages in a variety of ways. For this assignment you will identify an article that discusses and provides support for a therapy, intervention or supportive device that assists individuals with vision or hearing impairments. You will then provide a review of the article including a brief description of the intervention, the evidence supporting the use of the intervention and how it benefits this population. The document should be no longer than 2 pages. The assignment must include references in APA format.
